There is one thing that I don’t quite understand; why do somebody get less points from something that he/she put BIG effort into it?

I had my Classical Literature FINAL exam today and I must say that I would feel free if I didn’t see my mark from its last mid-term.

We were responsible for the play, tragedy, Oedipus the Rex. I studied hard on that play and all I saw on the result paper was : 62 points!! 

Try to write a well-developed essay. Give examples from the texts. Do that correctly, do this efficiently… Blah.

The mid-term before this one was better. We were responsible for the epic, the Iliad. It was much better because I’m already familiar with the topic and I must say that Homer is a great poet! OK, the masterpiece is very long and hard to keep up with but it taught me how to evaluate the things around me objectively.  The elements of realism, humanism, objectivity are my gain from that masterpiece besides its great story.

And the final exam.. Ugh. The lecturer wanted us to write about the tragic heroes (Oedipus) and the epic heroes’ (Achilles or Hector, but I chose Achilles:) similarities and dissimilarities. Except these two, we were responsible for the comedy, Lysistrata  which is another big issue.

Well, I DID give examples from the texts when I compared and contrasted them.

 I divided them into the paragraphs and gave line breaks + margins.

I believe I wrote one good conclusion part and one simple title. (Maybe I’m losing points because of the titles… Anyways It can’t be a big deal)

All I want is to pass my Classical Literature lecture! I can’t take that lecture next year, it would be a big burden!

Phew.. 5 more finals to go..

I am helplessly looking forward to the summer holiday. Because I really need some sort of a break.

Try to think of somewhere beautiful & peaceful, Merve ;) Somewhere green, warm with the smell of sea, waves, sands.. Let it be.. Jamaica.
